Our second social was a complete success. We want to thank all of our members who went, as well as the Rotarians who were able to attend.
It is amazing how fast we are growing and all the support that we have received from the community and Rotarians alike.
If you weren't able to attend last night do not worry as many more socials are coming
Hunger is a struggle that we have in our backyard, and we have to take actions to get rid of it. While many Americans throw away their food, there are many others that go to bed without food in their stomachs. At Rotaract West Broward, we decided to help Feeding South Florida to eradicate this problem.
Last Saturday, the 11th, fifteen of us visited the main warehouse in Pembroke Park, Florida. First, we got together with the rest of the organizations that were there and the volunteer coordinator explained the organization goals and what we were doing during our journey in the warehouse. Then, we helped sorting and classifying food. We had to make sure that everything was eatable and ready to go to someone in need.
It was amazing to share this opportunity with volunteers and Rotarians. Also, there were more organizations, and all together, we sorted through 19,830 pounds of food and products that will turn into 16,000 meals for families and individuals!
Independence day is a date to be celebrated, and we couldn't say no to such an amazing invitation! We joined the Rotary Club of Weston at the 4th of July Parade at the Weston Town Center. This was an amazing opportunity to get in touch with our community, our neighbors, our sponsors, and to embrace fellowship.
The experience was something that we did not expected. Most of us lived in the City for a long time, but have never assisted this event. Particularly, I remember seeing the faces of the little kids: they were happy waiving and congratulating everybody. Such a fun day!
Look at all the other things we have accomplished!
